This course covers the importance of infection control in healthcare environments, the rules and regulations that you must adhere to, and what you can do to help keep everyone in your facility infection-free.

From hospital rooms to waiting rooms, healthcare facilities can contain many harmful organisms, such as bacteria, fungi and viruses. And if people are exposed to these pathogens, they can develop an infection that could easily spread to others, posing a threat to the health of everyone in your facility. But if you and your coworkers follow the proper procedures, you can help to control the spread of these organisms – and ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone.

Topics covered in this course include:

Facility hygiene

Your role in infection control

Infection control guidelines and regulations

Protecting patients from infection

and more

Confined space entry must be approached with a professional attitude and a methodical system designed to prevent situations from escalating into a disaster. The National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health (NIOSH) found that in more than 50% of confined space accidents, the rescuer becomes the victim. NIOSH also found that very few organizations provided written procedures.

Failure to closely follow specific rules, regulations and confined space safety standards can guarantee serious injury or even death. This program is designed to provide the viewer with safety basics in confined space entry.

Employees who work with food need to be committed to creating products that are safe to eat. So it’s important that they follow good cleaning procedures in their facility.

Exposure to harmful microorganisms, such as bacteria, spores, fungi and viruses, can contaminate food products during the manufacturing process. And if customers eat this contaminated food, it can result in what are known as “foodborne illnesses”. But if employees follow the proper cleaning procedures, it can help to eliminate these microorganisms.

Topics covered in this course include:

Different types of surfaces, and methods that you can use to clean them

When and how employees should wash their hands

How employees can keep their hands germ-free throughout their workday

Practicing good “personal hygiene”
